Forgive me for being blunt, but many of y'all are driving me
nuts. Virtually all the folks that are being critical of these ideas have
not read the book or seen the video. I think we could have a significantly
more intelligent discussion if you would! I understand this won't work for
those of you outside the U.S., but for the rest of you, here's my suggestion:

Go to your local public library. This is a popular book; most of them
should have it. If it's checked out, ask to put a hold on it (reserve
it). If they don't have it, ask who to direct suggestions to, and suggest
that they acquire it. (My husband is a library director; most libraries
are THRILLED to have suggestions for what to buy.) Alternatively, ask to
inter-library loan the book. Your library will find out what library has
it and borrow it for you. The book is The Happiest Baby on the Block, by
Harvey Karp, M.D.

Personally, I would have been thrilled to have this book or video 23 years
ago when we were walking the floor with our first, very disorganized and
grumpy child. I think it's a great book and can really help preserve
breastfeeding. We're in the process of acquiring more of the books and
videos to lend out and sell at my hospital's support group. Please guys,
look at this stuff yourself and THEN write into Lactnet. And Harvey,
thanks for being so patient.
