In a message dated 1/15/2003 11:09:39 PM Eastern Standard Time, Naomi ask:

> Where do they go? How many other floors/units in a hospital have
> need of breast pumps? Pediatrics? Are there employees who
> want to pump for their babies at home?
> In either case, is it worthwhile to invest in a couple of
> other pumps, strategically placed so that everyone who

they go anywhere they can go, in spite of many units having there own pumps,
and employees have a special pumping room, and we have "traveling pumps" that
other units may borrow are also available, ..still somewhat of a hassel to
keep these locked up, sign out and deliver to unit, keep track of.....

One hospital here recently had pumps stocked in "central supply", so other
units that don't keep a pump, like the adult ICUs, can get a kit and pump
from central supply and have it there before we arrive to do the consult.

Cheryl says: <<...does your hospital put security bands/tags
on infants that alarm at the doors? If so, perhaps you could secure one of
those to the pump.>>

good idea, but, when a pump went out the door and the alarm sounded, the
staff would have to assume it was a baby and all heck breaks loose...

Linda says: <<We put locators on our breastpumps, which make the pumps
easier to find.>>

and Kathy says:<<We will soon be attaching some kind of device to the
pumps (sort of like the thing that beeps when you try to locate misplaced
keys) so that we will be able to locate them anywhere in the hospital.>>

where did/will you get these?
