I have worked in lactation for 20+ years. We have always done follow up phone calls to check on our patients after they have gone home. At first each LC or lactation educator called the patients they saw to check on them about a week after discharge. In 2002 our manager at the time brought us into the 21st century and put everything on a data base. Now our phone calls automatically populate into a list 48 hours after discharge. Sometimes these calls got made in a timely fashion and sometimes they did not. Now we finally have a process and the phone calls get made in a timely fashion. I have been asked by management to reach out to local hospitals as well as hospitals across the country and beyond to see if this is something that is done elsewhere. They are asking to see if this is something that is worth the productivity hours used. Of course we see the value as it catches many problems that brings couplets in for OP visits. It is also a great patient satisfier.

Please email me privately.

Thank you!
