Is it just me, or do other people see this as a not-so-abnormal
situation -- the mother seems quite light; she puts on a lot of weight
during pregnancy (which is a good thing), probably has a baby with a
good healthy birth weight, and then returns to normal weight... I would
see a problem if she was dropping below pre-pregnancy weight, but some
mothers do lose their pregnancy weight very quickly, without any
problem, especially if they had borderline or full-fledged gestational
diabetes (in which case BF can help this from turning into regular
diabetes, but formula feeding may be an additional concern) or were
simply very hungry during pregnancy.
Now, the next part of this scenario goes like this : the baby was born
at a high birth-weight, and starts dropping percentiles over the first
few months. It is clear to the LC that he is going to be tall and
slender, like his mother, but the doctors can't figure out why he was
born in the 80th percentile and dropping down...
