Gonneke, I may be incorrect, but I believe that the "wrestled with a
keyboard" phrase is one that you can program into your computer to generate
automatically when you hit "reply."  It's meant to be amusing and I am very
sure it wasn't meant as a criticism of your written English, which is fine
and conveys what you want it to.

English *is* my native language and I would like to endorse your plea for
people to please use generic terms and write out abbreviations whenever and
wherever possible!  It's not just the language but also place of employment.
For example, I know that r/o means "rule out."  I did not know that r/t
means "related to," and it took me the longest time to decipher that.

Please keep sharing!  All of us have much to learn from one another.
