Dear Lana--

IMHO, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! i.e., if baby is well nourished and
mom is not disturbed, you can wait on losing the shield, until such time as
it is interfering with supply or mom. My rules on using a shield (or any
other practice such as cupfeeding), is that if it is bringing the couple
closer to breastfeeding it is OK, where if it is interfering, then it is not
a good choice option.

In your case, it sounds as if interfering right now would interfere with the
successful breastfeeding relationship this dyad has.
