Rare, but it does exist. Baby of a friend of mine was diagnosed with
type 1 dm pretty soon after birth (also sga). Baby's blood sugar
levels weren't what they were supposed to be, and the dm dg came quite
soon, was hospitalized for weeks. Her baby got an insulin pump to
carry in a tiny backpack, and isn't a baby anymore but has started
school already :) .
