The FDA has an official statement listing which pumps, by name and model,
that are Multi-User or Single-User Only. There had to be some evidence
submitted to them to have the FDA issue this official statement. I don't
know if it was just the fact that milk can get into the machine or motor.
But then, that can't happen with Hollister because of the design of their
kit, and one or more of their pumps is also designated as Single-User Only.

It may also have something to do with the power or durability or built-in
lifetime of the motor itself.

I would also like to see documentation &/or published evidence of the
actual contaminants found in the residual milk. But if there is no residual
milk in the motor - then why?

And if there is the risk of harm to baby related to that milk / moisture /
mold contamination, why would it also not be a problem for baby #2 of the
original purchaser when the pump has been in the closet for 2-3-4 years? In
my mind, it's the same problem and the FDA official statement might also
state Single-Baby or Single-Gestation (twins?) Use Only.

But with that statement there might be some Lost Sales. People won't want
to spend $300+/-USD per pump, per baby.
