"The beef protein is the same bovine protein as is in the bovine
milk. Since our Children's Hospital began recommending the
elimination of beef also, fewer gastrointerologists are recommending
stopping breastfeeding as more problems are being resolved."
Wrote Patricia Gima, IBCLC

This makes a lot of sense. The doctor I saw about my allergies ten years ago also had me eliminate beef and veal (don't forget veal is from a calf), and I felt a whole lot better. Previously, I'd cook lovely casseroles with veal and vegetables, and I'd enjoy the aroma from the oven. The anticipation was always delicious, but after eating, I'd feel vaguely yuk. The advice to eliminate beef/veal, not just dairy, worked. Thereafter, when I put red meat in my casseroles it was lamb or venison. Recently I've been able to reintroduce beef, in moderation, without symptoms, e.g. the occasional massaman beef when eating Thai.
I'm not surprised that the babies mentioned by Pat Gima do a whole lot better (and aren't taken off mothers' milk in error). A further application would be that, if a mother is eliminating cow's milk proteins in her own diet, she also be advised to eliminate beef and veal. Not eliminating beef/veal may be why some Mums with suspected cow's milk allergy in their breastfed babies see "no difference" when they eliminate only cow's milk from their own diets. (Of course, I acknowledge that other proteins can be involved, e.g. soy, but I don't want to digress into the wider topic of allergy, just endorse the elimination of meat from the same animal.)
