<Working with a mom of 25 week twins-now 36 weeks. Still in NICU. Mom pumps 5 times a day for total of 15 ounces per 24 hours. She does skintoskin with both babies every day. She is at theri bedside every day for 10-12 hours and is involved in cares.

Now that babies are ready to orally feed, she is realizing that she doesn't make enough milk. She has refused the help of LCs previously. Now she wants help.

Does anybody have a magic trick out there for increasing milk supply at a time when many mothers are seeing a decrease?>

Perhaps a good place to begin might be Diane Wiessinger's instruction sheet "How We Make Milk".

While not actually discussing Feedback Inhibitor of Lactation, her down to earth sheet explains in simple language how and why taking milk out frequently AND effectively is important to signaling the breast to make more milk faster, compared to waiting until the breasts feel full, and thereby slowing production. She also explains how at first, mothers are alarmed when they get less milk when they start to pump more often, but that the 24 hour total is greater.

Among my other favorites is "Why Am I Doing This?"
