Just thought I'd pass this on for your consideration.

In my prenatal classes I mention several good books on breastfeeding
(Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, Nursing Mother's Companion, So That's
What They're For, and, of course, Dr. Jack's book). Then I say
something like:

"I would be leary of any book that offers an approach to
parenting that guarantees if you only follow their advice,
you'll have the perfect baby that won't interfere with your current
lifestyle."

I then point out how each baby is an individual and there are no
"one size fits all" approaches that work for every baby. I don't
mention either of the specific authors of concern by name. After
last Friday's class an expectant mom came up and said she was
interested in that comment because a friend had just given her this
book called "Babywise" and she wondered what I thought of it. I was
able to express my concerns with the book to her and I felt my
comments were better accepted than if I had issued an outright
condemnation of the book by name in the class.
