Hello everyone, I'm sorry for the cross-post. And I am deeply sorry to have
to write this.

It is such a hard time for us. My husband Bill has not been able to find a
steady job since August. We have tried everything we know how to do to raise
money for the BirthLove site and to get outside corporate support. We have
asked visitors to donate to the site, but for the most part our efforts have
been met with silence. No businesses have shown interest in advertising on
or sponsoring BirthLove.

Now, we are facing our Internet service to be cut off on 1/30/02. That's
tomorrow.

If my work has been of value to you- my writing, my putting up stories, my
generating activism, my supporting women and babies around the world, my
experiences and sharing; and if Bill's work has been of value to you- his
creation of the site itself, buying and maintaining all the computers and
servers, creating the forums, running the site year in and out- please
donate $5 or $10 to the website. We have a PayPal account.

We really need people who love the site to give back to it- or else there
simply won't be a site anymore- not in the way it exists now; in all its
size, workability, attractiveness, and uniqueness. It needs to be run by us,
on our own servers for it to be the strength that it is- all 800+ pages,
with the birth rights Petition, forums, search engine and all the other
aspects that make it powerful. It is impossible to put BirthLove as it is on
any other server than our own.

It is hard for me to write this... you cannot know. But write I must to keep
my work alive, and to keep women and babies around the world safe from
needless harm in their births. Please forward this to anyone who you think
cares about safe, gentle birth.

Following is a letter from Sarah Buckley, MD- a contributing expert to the
site. <http://www.birthlove.com/pages/sarah.html> She wants BirthLove kept
alive too.

Thanks if you can help.

BirthLove needs your support
-by Sarah Buckley MD

Have you been helped by BirthLove? Inspired? Challenged? Maybe you have
shared BirthLove's unique and passionate perspective with your pregnant
friends or clients. Perhaps BirthLove's revitalized view of birth has
benefited babies that you know, giving a more gentle introduction to the
world because of information shared through this site.

BirthLove is totally created and supported by Leilah and Bill McCracken,
whose devotion shines through the pages of BirthLove. They receive no
funding or sponsorship for their website, and are also busy raising and
educating their seven (soon to be eight) children with no outside source of
income.

If our world was in balance, their labour of love would be well rewarded.
Leilah and Bill would be the heroes of obstetricians, midwives and birth
supporters everywhere, who would appreciate that the health and sanity of
our society is, in large part, determined by how we treat mothers and babies
at birth.

Our world is not in balance, but we can still act. We can make Leilah and
Bill our heroes, and support them financially in the awesome and essential
work that they have undertaken.

I suggest that we pledge a few dollars (eg $2 to $5) each visit, or each
month, by secure credit card transfer, as above. If every visitor did this,
Leilah and Bill would be well resourced and Birthlove would sleep better at
night!

Jeannine Parvati Baker tells us that we are healing the earth by healing
birth. If we want a peaceful, loving, sustainable world, we need to act now.

Blessings to all

Sarah Buckley MD
