Hello, all!

I have been lurking for awhile and hope that this is not an inappropriate
post. If it is, I apologize.

I am currently a FT teacher (off for the summer!) who is "putting her
husband through Grad school"! To make a long story short, I dislike
teaching and very, very much would like to become an IBCLC. Some obvious
problems: I am the financial backbone of our family; I don't want to be
away from my daughter (and any future siblings) excessive lengths of
time; and I do not have a health-field degree (Biology and Chemistry
teacher). Anyway....

at some time in the future I hope to become a LC, and want to work on it
slowly. I have received info from ILCA and IBCLE and joined ILCA. I
took 3 CE classes at our regional LLL conference. It seems that the best
thing I could do now is get in some hands-on hours of counselling. How
do I do that? What can I count? And also--what is the best way to go
about becoming a LC that is likely to get a job? Nursing degree?
Dietician? Other ideas?

TIA for any ideas that you may pass on!

Lori
