Although not scientific, the analogy I use when talking to moms - after
saying "finish the first breast first" is that the first breast is dinner
and the other breast is dessert.  You don't always want dessert especially
if you've had a lot of dinner (so it's ok if baby isn't interested).  But
sometimes like when baby goes through a growth spurt he may want dinner
(first breast) then dessert (2nd breast) and then want to eat again an hour
- it just  depends and the best thing is to watch baby's signals to know
what the right thing is to do at the time.
