Jan: Thanks for your question. By the time a homeopathically prepared
substance has been diluted to the 6th potency (the typical potency used for
first aid purposes) there is none of the original substance remaining.
Essentially, there is nothing in the remedy to pass through the milk.

The substance which the "active" portion of the remedy is combined with for
"carrying purposes" varies. It may be a lactose tablet, lactose pellet, or
distilled water. Clearly the "carriers" are benign.

You may then wonder how in the world these remedies work if there is none of
the original substance remaining. Essentially, nobody knows. The theory is
that the electromagnetic "thumbprint" of the original substance remains on
the "MOTHER TINCTURE" (the base preparation that is subsequently diluted and
shaken vigourously several times) which is transferred and magnified by this
preparation method.

Homeopathy is one of the wonderful mysteries of life that is perfectly
logical if one is willing to suspend their total belief in only those things
that can be directly experienced and observed. But you don't have to believe
in it for it to work.

There are many good books now out on homeopathy. Dana Ullman's book,
Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Remedies, is a particularly good volume and
has an excellent chapter that explains the principles and protocols of
treatment with homeopathically prepared remedies.

The FDA tried to prevent over-the-counter distribution of remedies but
couldn't do it because they couldn't prove that there were any active
substances in the containers! And yet, these remedies heal people every day
and not by the placebo effect.

Hope this helps.
