In the past week I have seen references to at least four negative research
articles regarding breastfeeding: peanut allergy, cardiovascular disease,
atopic disease & asthma, and rickets. Admittedly, I have not read all of
the articles, but it concerns me that they are all being published so
closely together and that at least one of the research pieces(peanut
allergy) was partially funded by Nestle. Is this a new method of
advertising against breastfeeding? It perhaps does not violate the WHO Code
if done in the guise of research. Regarding rickets, a local television
station blatantly stated that it's more of a problem in breastfed children,
with no reference to any of the benefits of breastfeeding or the health
risks of not breastfeeding.
