In a message dated 97-12-16 21:05:22 EST, you write:

<< I think the LLL advise is WONDERFUL , I love LLL and work closely with
our local group, the part I was upset is about hospitals not giving
adequate support, I have worked long and hard to develop a lactation
program at our hospital . We have 3 IBCLC's for our 8 bed unit and we do
give lots of bf support . I don't think she had to talk so poorly of
 hospitals.......

Doesn't so much of the discussion here validate that yours is the exceptional
situation? In my area (Philadelphia) most hospitals have no IBCLC's. Both
from my own experience with two hospital births and what I have heard as both
a LLL Leader and member, by and large hospitals give little or no advice on
breastfeeding that is accurate and/or encouraging.
