Peter Hartmann's work in Perth Australia, as he presented it to me, suggests very strongly that
it is the *drop* in progesterone levels after delivery which sensitize the alveolar cells of the
breast to the effects of prolactin.

I think that there is no evidence that progesterone immediately after delivery has no effect.  We
should not be experimenting with new mothers.
