Between admissions to the NICU I caught the 1st 20 minutes of the Dr. Phil show today to watch the debate re breastfeeding in public. I am happy to say that Dr. Phil actually seemed to be pro-breastfeeding, although not as sure about "indiscreet" nursing in public. The breastfeeding mother was attractive and articulate and made 2 basic points clearly: 1,mothers have a right to address the needs of their breastfed infants wherever and whenever necesaary; and 2, that the more breastfeeding the public sees, the less of a problem it will be.

I did feel bad for the woman they chose to represent the other side. She was unattractive and very inarticulate, coming off as uninformed and nasty (she mentioned that it was OK for babies to breastfeed in the bathroom because mothers didn't need to rub their breasts on the toilet seat before they fed their babies! -- the audience gasped.)

Overall some positive air time for "our side".
