I had a call from BF client today and she agreed for me to email Lactnet with
her situation so I could get input from others.

She has 17 mo old whom she BF until she was 9 mo old. During 9 mo of BF her
daughter was "throwing up 2-3 times a day until she was throwing up bile" Dr.
told her that her breastmilk was too acid but client continued to breastfeed.
She finally found a dr who agreed to upper GI and was normal. Child gained wt
adeq. Child fine and no further throwing up since BF stopped at 9 mo.

She now has 9 day old son, milk came in on day 2/3 and infant gaining nicely.
BUT his bottom bloody raw and not yeast. Dr says her Breastmilk too acid.
Client has moderate problem with acid and uses tums 3-4x day and eats no
citrus or spicy food. Her intake in last couple days consists of tst with
peanut butter, mac. and cheese, hotdogs, hamb. on grill, etc. She also says
her babys poop looks yellow-seedy but also oily that absorbs into the diaper.

Any ideas on the problem? She believes "something is wrong with my
breastmilk". Any ideas on healing his bottom. Dr. says to stop use of baby
wipes and blow dry bottom. She has tried desitin, A & D oint.

Awaiting input
Thanks in advance
Marilyn
