Barbara,

I don't think you understand my situation. I am the messenger standing at
the door and the door has not been answered by any breastfeeding organization.
I have been standing at that door since the year 2000.

Silence. What does that mean to you? You say that means belief. But to the
person who gets that kind of response, one can also assume disbelief or
disinterest. I must admit there has been a few people, not organizations,
interested in the patent information but the overall response has not been one in
which I feel like I am being heard.

I feel that your suggestion that I am am putting this discussion into a "them
vs us" framework is an interesting perspective. I certainly have friends
and allies in the breastfeeding community. But I would assume by your post that
maybe some of the breastfeeding community is not feeling too friendly with
me.

There is a saying about "not killing the messenger." I feel you are saying
there is no answer to the patenting problem and that most people on this list
would not know what to do anyway. Yet I am being chastised for not giving
you'all some concrete suggestions. I look at it as a no-win situation, whatever
I do I am wrong.

I have believed that the first step in understanding a problem is to
acknowledge there is a problem. Acknowledgement puts it into reality. I believe you
are saying that acknowledgement has occured and now let's put this off-line
because it is imprudent to show all our cards. Interesting...and the only thing
I can say is the message has been sitting on breastfeeding organizations'
doorsteps for a number of years. All they had to do was pick it up. But no one
did---so....what is it that you want me to do? Be quiet?
