I mentioned a few weeks ago the search tool, DB-TEST. Several netters have
asked for more information. This was offered to us in June as a way to
access the Archives. I signed on and, even the internet novice that I am,
have used it with much satisfaction. I'll try to explain it.

You will receive an acceptance message to which you respond with ok within
48 hours, then you receive a very long message of instructions. To use the
service simply, as I do, you don't need to use all of the instructions, but
some of you more computer-skilled may want to, and I think they want folks
to be adventuresome.

After you get this info you email to [log in to unmask] and
command: search thrush in lactnet, and you will get a list of all of the
posts that mentioned thrush anywhere in their text. There are some lines
from the text so that you will know which ones you would like to read further.

Then you email to LISTSERV: getpost lactnet 2578 (whatever number) and the
whole post will be sent to you.

Often I encounter a problem and I know that I read about it on Lactnet, but
I can't remember when or who wrote it. This service is great for such a
situation and I have found it to be quite user-friendly.

I hope I have explained it well enough for you. The instructions that you
will be sent are quite good.
