I have a follow up phone call with a client in two weeks after the next ped appt. when the baby will be four months old. She may need supplements in addition to BF and MOM. The client mentioned that her MIL fed her babies cow's milk whey to help them gain weight, and she has offered to make some for the baby. Is this a safe supplement for a four month old? What about compared to formula? Or compared to introducing food? What about ghee? If she gives the baby food, can she add ghee to it? They are vegetarians, so the addition of fat will be helpful. I expect the need to be the equivalent of 1-2 meals per day. The baby is having her physical issues taken care of; she just may need to have extra food beyond MOM to catch up.
