Mississippi WIC is different from the WIC Program in other states in that we
have Food Distribution Centers where participants (pregnant women,
breastfeeding women, postpartum women, infants, and children 1 to 5 years)
pick up a food package at the WIC Distribution Center.  There are three food
packages available to women who qualify for WIC.  One package is for pregnant
women and for women who are breastfeeding and picking up ABM for their babies-
-pregnant women receive this package throughout their pregnancy up until they
recertify (by 6 weeks postpartum) as breastfeeding or non-breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding women can receive this package for up to one year--if they
breastfeed for the year.   Another package is for postpartum women who are
not breastfeeding--they receive this package for 6 months after delivery.
Mothers who miscarry also receive this postpartum package for 6 months.  The
third package is an enhanced food package for women who are breastfeeding and
not picking up any ABM for their babies.  This package contains extras--tuna,
carrots, extra cheese, peanut butter and dried beans or peas--in addition to
the regular postpartum package.  Breastfeeding women may receive this package
for up to one year.  All women (in MS) are off the WIC Program by 6 months
(if not bf) or one year (if bf)--unless or until they get pregnant again.
Women, infants, and children qualify for WIC by being income eligible and
