Chiming in with another personal experience--when we were told my son
would have to take a bottle of juice in recovery, it turned out a) they
were assuming he was artificially fed and didn't want him to have
formula right away and b) they wanted to quantify his intake. They were
quite surprised when I told them they would see him gulping when the
milk let down.

As I was bf in recovery, the nurse asked me how on earth I was able to
find a formula, given that my son was allergic to dairy, soy, corn, and
coconut, among other things. I just kind of looked at her and looked
down at my son, and then the light went on and she realized I didn't
*need* to find a formula :)

Lynn
