A doctor in China is telling me that there are several written sources in
China that state that a breastfeeding mother should avoid eating hens
(female chickens) because the estrogen from its ovaries, eggs and its meat
will suppress lactation. And apparently the older the chicken, the higher
levels of estrogen. (For suppression of lactation, estrogen is commonly
prescribed in China.)

 It is recommended that at least for the confinement month that a mom
avoids eating hens, and that different moms may exhibit differing levels of
sensitivity.  They encourage eating young roosters instead which due to the
androgens may increase milk supply.

Has anyone ever heard of this theory, could there be truth to this, and are
there any research studies?
