This is interesting.  Author John Ott, who wrote Health & Light, did all the
ultraviolet light studies for Disney Studios to film time compressed flowers
blooming for the Cinerama films that I saw as a kid.  Twenty years ago he
told me that jaundiced babies under bilirubin lights must have at least a
normal 8 hours of dark time in every 24 hours in order to thrive.  He was
adamantly against 24 hour bilirubin lights as being dangerous to their
pineal gland.
