Just received my JHL yesterday and dove in to sample the articles a la
smorgasbord style.

This post is a little outside the current LN thread about the collection
of statistics, but I found the article about measuring the "intensity" of
breastfeeding in relation to the number of mothers who were still nursing
at a year very interesting. ("Use of an Intensity Ratio to Describe
Breastfeeding Exclusivity in a National Sample", Piper and Parks)

I am already thinking of whether my co-workers and I will find the terms
"high partial, medium partial and low partial" of value at least in
communication among ourselves, and perhaps the other members of the WIC
staff. Maybe some distant day, even in relation to the statistical
reports to the state WIC office!
