Roslyn asked about a 7 month old with pubic hair.
First , I see no reason for this to be breastfeeding related.
(But now my post is).
First question: Is this really pubic hair? Courser and maybe
more curly than other body hair? Pubic hair growth , adenarche,
is a result of androgen hormones, eg testosterone
or progresterone. Does this baby have other signs of
hormone excess?
Androgen signs: pubic hair, axillary hair, oiliness of skin, adult
type body odor,
Estrogen signs: thickening of vaginal tissues, white
vag discharge, breast development
Does the baby have rapid growth?
If this is pubic hair it could be several things from benign premature adrenarche (I dont know of it occurung this young)
to mild congenital adrenal hyperplasia,
The main piont is this baby needs to be seen and determined
if this is pubic hair.
-Rob
PS is this baby's genitalia normal?
