 While not all people are meant to be tall, not growing to one's own potential for height is concerning. Zinc deficiency is most often implicated in diminished height and the thing to consider is that human growth hormone is also limited by zinc deficiency--which means far more is at stake than just cultural ideas biases about height. (BTW, arginine deficiency also is implicated in poor growth). Children with food allergies are often undernourished children and to trust them to not eat to avoid allergens is one thing, but children with allergies will ultimately crave their allergens while avoiding other foods, hence remaining undernourished. You cannot trust these children to choose foods well. I absolutely believe in trusting one's gut--unless it is damaged--then it is far from trustworthy.
