It seems we are rehashing this all over again. Let me restate what I posted
in recentl threads on this: while I have worked with some very difficult and
ornery doctors, most are quite collegial and respectful. This is true in any
profession.

There is tongue tie info on AAP, there is support for continued bf with
jaundice. LCs can discuss this info with doctor. What I think might have
happened prior to the new SoP, was that perhaps an LC told a mother not to
supplement and there was a poor outcome. Perhaps a baby became dehydrated or
had a very high level of hyperbilirubinemia. This is what I suspect anyway.
I enjoy a very good relationship with my physician colleagues. I do question
and offer alternative options. I do not fear losing my job. However, I would
not just go to a mother and tell her not to follow a certain order. I would
privately and respectfully ask to discuss it with the doctor. When I was in
private practice I might have called the doctor if it was a serious
situation, or I might have recommended that the mother do some research
online and discuss x,y, or z options with her or baby's doctor.
