Hi All.
First I want to thank all of you who e-mailed with on and off the list with
encouragement. It was well needed and I appreciated it all. This has been a
long day. Early this morning had a hard time getting the courage to face
another day of home visits with mothers with nipple trauma, low supply, baby
hospitalized with severe jaundice  (billi of 21.8) and ended the day with
another prenatal breastfeeding class. You can imagine how clear I made the
expected weight loss and gain and red flags!!!.....
I faxed an urgent report to pediatrician (who by the way saw baby as
recently as 4 days ago!) and told him of my observation and my
recommendations to parents. Then contacted parents to let them know I sent
ped my notes. Didn't want them to feel ambushed or somehow think I was going
behind their backs.
Father contacted me back thanking me and assuring me mom will be attending
clinic tomorrow with baby and how happy he is that they ran into me.
So although I was worried about them being angry (shooting the messengers
and all that), none of that has happened yet. Hopefully we will get them on
the right track. I will report on the progress once (and if) I see them.
