"The baby has lost about 8% of his birth weight, so I
advised them to keep him with them all during the day ( the nursing
staff are being very liberal with this couple!) and to watch for those
signs of readiness to eat and to feed him more often today."

dear list this is such a lovely story and as a midwife (not yet iblc but
studying) in the hospital situation i can't help feeling that we should
maybe put this energy into more of our women.
this family's wonderfully positive experience should be a lesson to us
all as to how normal (if that is the appropriate word) breastfeeding can
be. being "liberal" can really work wonders !!!!!!!

sincerely
