HI
I am a Midwife and Lactation Consultant in Yorkshire England.
I work as an Infant Feeding Advisor in a National Health Service Hospital
which is an accredited Baby Friendly Hospital.I also run a weekly
Breastfeeding Drop-in clinic and postnatal support group in the community.

I would be grateful for any advice about the following:

Experience of supporting a mother to breastfeed following premature
menopause.I have searched Lactnet archives but not found anything relevant.
The lady is expecting her first baby concieved following egg donation. Her
Ovaries were damaged during a surgical procedure and prior to becoming
pregnant she was on Hormone Replacement Therapy.
I,m sure the breasts will be prepared for lactation as normal during the
pregnancy and she will need extra support to ensure effective breastfeeding
in the early post partum period. However I,m unsure about how soon she will
need to resume HRT and the effect the treatment will have on lactation.
I would be grateful for any information I could pass on to her.
