Dear Lactnet Friends:

The WHO says it best for feeding options: #1 is fresh from mom. #2, frozen
from mom.  #3 from a donor milk bank or a wet nurse.  #4 nonhuman milks. I
would add sensible informal milk sharing in there ahead of #4.

As with any food, best is fresh whether it be strawberries or chicken or
human milk.

It would be best for infant and maternal health if the money, time, and
energy that is currently placed on trying to re-create human milk in a
factory was placed instead into ensuring that all babies received human
milk. This is possible, although sadly improbable. It would mean
surrendering greed.

To change the intention of industry is daunting, even though the health of
the entire globe is suffering as a result of industrial practices. Seems
like humans aren't mean to last as long as cockroaches!
