Renate,

any)?>

Thank you. You made my day. I am trying to become a writer of sorts. I
love "wordsmithing".

However, I can't take credit for the idea of trying to explain things
from the baby's point of view. I'm sure I "lifted" it from some
childbirth educator or other, many years ago, when I saw how it caused
parents to think from a whole different perspective.

I used the idea in abbreviated form time and again in childbirth classes,
breastfeeding classes, and especially public health infant care classes
for teenagers etc. for over 2 or 3 decades.

(I even had a little "schtick" about the baby never had to have B.M.'s in
utero, so has never experienced cramps, or gas, and has never built up
strong abdominal muscles yet to help pass them. Ergo, holding the ankles
with knees bent back against the abdomen often helps when baby is trying
to pass a stool.)

I found that by "putting words in the baby's mouth", describing his/her
adventures before, and adjustments after birth in this way, it helped
parents to mentally "put themselves in their baby's place", and empathize
with the baby about the terrific adjustment the baby is forced to make
from intrauterine to extrauterine life.

So, for free, take! If you find any part of the concept useful, be my
guest!

Jean
