Just a couple points about S. aureus. It can be found on healthy,
intact skin, but always elicits a high index of suspicion when it is
present. It is much more pathogenic than most other bugs, and is
usually considered an offender, if found in a site that appears to have
an infection. Topical antibiotics should be effective against topical
infection with S. aureus, but often the infection is deeper, and
requires more aggressive therapy. Good question, Pat about the soap.
Certainly, bar soap is a culture medium all by itself.
