I am not sure about this, but as far as I know, they are relatively
new additives to the formula on  sale in the UK . Recently, SMA added
more of them to their brands, according to their website.

I don't think they have been around for as long as 20 years.

I haven't heard of the explosive diarrhoea and smelly 'emissions' problem here.
