In the July issue of American Baby page six you will find “DOES mom’s DINNER
Make BABY Cry.” This is a bit of the article.

Research done at the University of Minnesota suggests that what a nursing
mother eats may effect weather her baby has colic. (Then followed by a brief
description of colic) The study published in the Journal of American
Dietetic Association, looked at the diet of 272 women who were exclusively
breastfeeding. All babies where 4 mo or younger and were asked to keep a
record certain foods they ate for a week and record the symptoms or lack of.
A correlation was found between colic symptoms and the maternal intake of
cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cow’s milk, onions, and chocolate. Although
the researchers don’t recommend nursing moms avoid the foods they studied,
they do suggests women who are exclusively breastfeeding and who’s baby has
colic symptoms work with a dietitian on a trial elimination (on the foods
listed above).

I know I have had several calls on the tittle alone. It is printed as I have
above. Nice BIG letters to scare moms!
