A helpful father calling for breastfeeding information should generally
be kindly met, since his support is such a plus (though everyone's had
those awkward situations where he seems more intent on breastfeeding
than the mother is). But as a LLL Leader, I'm always cautious when it's
a male voice on the line, because we get some crank calls in our area,
and because we have to think about the Group's safety when we give out
 meeting dates and times.
A common procedure, if one has any doubts, is to say, "I've got a bit of a
situation here -- can I get your name and phone number so I can call you right
back. I'll need to have the information for our records anyway." Few crank
callers want to share such details, but someone with a legitimate need-to-know
won't hesitate.
Then when I call back, we can work on the question of why the mother
 isn't calling for herself.
