Dear "frustrated" --

I can relate to your story. New management who doesn't appreciate the old system is always hard on the workers. Our jobs are hard enough without facing cut backs in our hours.

My suggestion is very pragmatic. Make up a priority list of things that must be done first, what would come second, what would come third, last etc. You might ask your boss what she sees as the biggest priority -- in hospital patient care vs. outpatient, vs. rentals/sales of pumps, bras, etc. Make sure you are very clear on what she wants, possibly follow it up in writing like on email.

Be very careful to sound positive and helpful, not complaining and angry. Make sure you come across as a team player!

Then do what you can in the order of priority. Let the other go and don't worry about it.

Best wishes to you. Kathy Eng, BSW, IBCLC (Houston, TX)
