I would like to remind you that there are some beautiful breastfeeding
chairs available in antique stores. They are usually sold as 'mother's
chairs' , sometimes even as a child's chair. Often the dealers think the
legs were cut off at some point for some unknown reason. If that is the
case you can sometimes buy one really inexpensively. Unfortunately few
dealers are that ill informed. They are very close in appearance to the
'new' version but are usually wood. Some have rockers. They vary from a
child's chair in that although the legs are short, the seat is wide enough
for an adult and the back is adult height. They may or may not have arms.
If they do have arms the best ones are lower than average so that a mother
did not have to raise her elbow while supporting her infant, or perhaps to
allow space for a pillow?? Although I have never bought one I keep my eyes
open for them. Over the years they have become more rare, but I usually see
2 or 3 a year when cruising antique stores.
