Don't know about OT in regard to muscles, but the MER involves
myoepithelial cells, a specialized type of epithelial cells. FWIW, they
are not muscles, per se, and have no nerve connections.

My understanding gets histologically hazy though in regard to the uterus.
I thought too that there were myoepithelial cells, but we frequently hear
the phrase "uterine muscle". Perhaps the proximity of the uterus to the
intestines, especially if there might be tiny adhesions, might have some
influence???
