I do not mean to offend anyone's beliefs by this comment. Certainly we
do have to meet our clients where they are with whatever social,
familial and faith-based influences they have in their lives. It's not
our place to try to change that mom's situation and influences.
However, we do have a role, I feel, in speaking up to change or at least
point out in society in general where such attitudes may interfere with
what is best for babies.

I just can't understand why when men can't control their reaction to
something women do, it's the women that have to change? If I were a
man, I think that would offend me-the idea that men are such moral
weaklings that women have to go out of their way to avoid giving men any
"bad ideas" since they have no control themselves over how they view or
respond to the world around them! This is bumping on the borders of
being off topic, but it does realte to some roadblocks to making
breastfeeding normal.

No woman should be made to feel she MUST breastfeed by "letting it all
hang out" while at the same time no woman should be made to feel that if
she doesn't hide away somewhere she is the one who is behaving
abnormally.

Winnie
