Linda, thanks for this info! Need to clarify, I think.

The person who asked for help works in state government in the 
Department of Mental Health, a special section that serves people 
with deafness. He's serving a client. She's coming to him for help 
with assistive technology, not feeding or mothering decisions. I'm 
not in direct contact with her.

While he understands that SIDS and co-sleeping don't go together, 
it's not his job to hit that issue heavy in this situation. He has to 
help her with what she asked for - another device. I brought up the 
co-sleeping with him and he told me he couln't go there with her. I 
can send him the info on SIDS and co-sleeping, because he understands 
that's a solution, and so he'll have it to share in CASE the mother 
asks. But again, there's a clear separation of job responsibilities 
here. Just wanted you all to know this. I have to be careful to 
separate my own job responsibilities/parameters, too - I'm not being 
paid to give out breastfeeding or mothering advice, but to help 
people with assistive technology. I run the risk of overstepping 
boundaries and presenting (in my case) La Leche League in a bad light 
if I go heaving on the SIDS/cosleeping issue with him.

Not to say that I don't welcome this information and know that I 
might share it with him informally... just in case.
Just wanted to clarify my role and purpose for asking the Q.
