For Ginna: It sounds like dermatitis or eczema! But you also mentionned that
baby tends to draw his lips in...The only way a baby can draw his lips in
when he latches on ,is if he does not open his mouth wide enough! Could that
be the problem? When a baby opens his mouth wide and then rests his lips on
the areola, he automatically has flanged lips. But try to suck in a
spaghetti between your lips and you will see that your lips automatically
draw in with the effect of the negative suction you are doing! Same thing
happens during a latch where baby does not open wide, latches on and tries
to keep the breast in his mouth with negative suction.
