Kerrri writes that her client is finishing diflucan with marginal results.
When I have had patients with yeast...and from being in a 6 doc peds office I
see a lot...many times the recurrent ones have yeast somewhere else and/or
aren't treating properly. For baby, I do diflucan susp 6mg/kg first dose
then 3mg/kg dose 2-14, taken daily. IF baby has suspicious diaper rash I
ALSO treat that with topical nystatin cream. Also for mom, I ask about
vaginal discharge, if yes, then I make sure she is taking 200 mg daily of
Diflucan for at least 3 weeks. Hale states it might take up to 6 weeks (I
believe) if it systemic. Overkill on meds? perhaps, but this works. Also
the usual "tx" for yeast per Pat Gima...vinegar washes, clean or NEW
pacifiers, boiling bottles, hand washing, acidophillus etc. Good Luck
