Hi all
Have a listen to my friend presenting her PhD research here: http://mumsright.libsyn.com/index.php?post_category=LRC%20Podcast
Yvonne Luxford examined the evidence in support of the notion that ad lib breastfeeding causes dental caries. She found it to be remarkably thin. Her thesis is available in full on the Australian Digital Thesis Database.
More recent cohort studies have found that neither breastfeeding per se nor pattern of breastfeeding (feeding overnight) are associated with infantile caries.
I'll see if I can find the references.
Cheers
