Even though prolactin levels come back as "normal" there still can be an
issue with prolactin. There are 3 types of prolactin, regular prolactin,
big prolactin, and macroprolactin or big big prolactin. The last 2 types
are inactive but still show up in a prolactin lab result because what is
measured is total prolactin. It is possible to have only small amounts of
active prolactin with the total amount reflecting mostly the other 2
inactive forms. So "normal" prolactin levels may not be so normal. I am not
saying that this is what is the cause of your particular case, just that it
is a possibility.
