I have formed a new email group: the LactPsych Network. It is designed for *professionals* who are somehow *substantially* blending the fields of breastfeeding/human lactation and psychology/mental health and wish to share support and ideas with their *peers*. For example, a social worker or psychotherapist who works heavily with breastfeeding mothers; a lactation consultant whose education inlcudes a BSW, MS in clinical or counseling psychology and uses that background extensively in her work; someone with a PhD in clinical or counseling psychology working heavily with breastfeeding mothers; an MD or psychiatric nurse who works with breastfeeding mothers having psychological issues; a provider of infant mental health services to breastfeeding families; etc. Such professionals might be in institutional settings or in group or private practice.

If you are a *professional* who fits this description and are interested in joining this group, please send an email to [log in to unmask] describing what you do, how you are a good match for this group, and why you are interested so I may consider inviting you to join the group. At present, the LactPsych Network is not designed for the needs of students, the general public, or professional or lay breastfeeding counselors with a more casual interest in these topics. (My apologies!) And, if you know of colleagues who might be interested in joining this group, feel free to forward this email to them. Thank you!
